Twitter

I actually have a Twitter account and have an app for it on my iphone. I don't post anything since I can't think of anything pithy to say. I do follow a few people who ARE good at it tho, like Stephen Fry, Felicia Day and Jian Ghomeshi.

Librarything

I've known about this one for a while but have never been motivated enought to set up an account and log my books. I liked the forums and can see how the site would be useful for tracking the books you've read and want to read. I just can't be bothered to do this via social networking.

Productivity Tools

I use these all the time. I love that I can access certain files from any pc. So much easier that carrying around a memory stick or trying to find the newest version of a document.

Flikr/ YouTube

I don't own a camera or care about taking photos so I wasn't interested in Flickr. I use You Tube for any number of reasons and even have an account (tho I cannot recall why I set it up nor can I remember my password).

You tube is simple to search, easy to access and since you can embed video into blogs etc it is everywhere. I've used it to share the joy of Carol Burnett with my coworkers etc.

Our customers love youtube and I think this is the main reason they come to the library - to watch youtube videos!!

Bloglines

I took a look at this and if I wasn't already using Google Reader for the same thing I would sign up in a heartbeat.

I love having all the blogs I follow in one convenient location

Google

I love the Google! I use gmail, the reader, the calendar and google documents AND google maps. I have several different email account sent to my gmail account so I can read my email from my IPhone. I use google maps from my IPhone almost every day - it is excellent feature for the directionally impaired.

Facebook - timewaster or useful???

I have mixed feelings about Facebook. I signed up last year and read it intermittently.

I like that I can see my brother's vacation photos and keeping track of neices and nephews but I struggle with some of the other aspects of it.

I guess my answer is it is a lovely timewaster that has little impact on my day to day life.

Wikipedia

I use wikipedia whenlooking for information about pop culture - i.e. films, music and television. It can be incredibly useful for all kinds of trivia. I think it is a fantastic site filled with useful information but should be read critically. A good example of this can be found on Neil Gaiman's blog where he talks about how something he wrote in a novel appeared as fact in a Wikipedia article.
